It’s unbearablyhot outside, and a Slurpee sounds like the perfect way to chill out right now.
Luckily, this Friday falls on July 11 — 7/11 — which means it’s Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven. That translates to a complimentary Slurpee for everyone.
Yep, it’s real. Anyone who walks into a 7-Eleven, Stripes or Speedway location on Friday can grab a small Slurpee for free. (All three chains are part of the same company.)
And there’s a fresh, playful twist this year: 7-Eleven is rolling out “Tongue-toos,” a one-of-a-kind temporary tongue tattoo that activates when you sip a Slurpee. All you do is take a slurp, place the tattoo on your tongue and watch what appears.
“This Slurpee Day, we’re shaking things up with new flavors, celebratory gear and even a stunt meant to leave its mark on tastebuds in the coolest way,” said Marissa Jarratt, executive vice president and chief marketing & sustainability officer at7-Eleven, Inc.
Better yet: if you play along, you could be eligible to win $5,000 before the year ends.
Here’s the thing: to be entered for that $5,000 prize, you’ll need to join their rewards program.
How to Score Your Free Slurpee — and Enter the Sweepstakes
From now through year-end you can sign up for the rewards program. Members can shop, scan their rewards app and play the in-app game for a chance at $5,000.
(The promotion is really aimed at getting you into their loyalty program and onto their app.)
But it’s not a bad trade. Enrolling in7RewardsandSpeedwaylets you enter to win free drinks and snacks for a year (with a qualifying purchase). You can also scan your loyalty info on Slurpee Day to receive a coupon for another free small Slurpee, which must be redeemed by the end of July.
So what flavor will you pick? You can’t go wrong with classic choices like cherry, Coca-Cola or blue raspberry. Or maybe you’ll get to your local 7-Eleven early to try the anticipated comeback of Mountain Dew Infinite Swirl.
And if you down your Slurpee too fast, you might earn yourself a brain freeze.
That’ll certainly help beat the heat.
