If you hold a Sam’s Club membership, you may have been a bit annoyed last month when the retailer announced it would shutter 63 locations. Fortunately, the chain made an announcement on Wednesday that could brighten your day.
Sam’s Club just announced it will providefree shippingwith no minimum purchase for all Plus members.
Wait: Before you dive back into buying bulk cases of soda, there’s some important fine print.
Only ground shipping orders and products designated “free shipping” on Sam’s Club’s site qualify. Items from the auction section, products sold only in stores and many grocery items are excluded.
And unlike Amazon Prime, Sam’s Club doesn’t promise guaranteed two-day delivery.
What can you actually get shipped for free?
Sam’s Club reports that about 95% of the merchandise listed on its website is eligible for the free shipping benefit, which includes almost all items from the retailer’s own Member’s Mark brand.
The club is also simplifying its membership tiers, trimming three options down to two. The Club membership costs $45 per year and covers in-store shopping. The Plus membership is $100 per year and includes all Club perks plus the free shipping feature.
Sam’s Club says it will concentrate on growing its e-commerce business by converting some of the stores it closed into distribution hubs — the first of which is slated to open in Memphis, Tennessee, this spring — and eventually adding free two-day delivery for Plus members.
For deals and related offerings, members may also be interested in a sams club membership deal or checking the food options like the sams club hot dog during visits.
