Sweetheart of a Deal: CVS Offers Free Heart-Health Screenings in February

Free Heart Health Screening — CVS MinuteClinic Offer

Here’s an interesting tidbit: our hearts beat roughly 2.5 billion times over a lifetime, according to Harvard Medical School.

That’s a tremendous effort from a tiny organ, so why not give it some extra care?

Stop by any CVS Pharmacy MinuteClinic on February 7, 14, 21 or 28 for a no-cost preventive screening to check on how your heart is doing.

No appointment is necessary to get screened, and you can check wait times through the MinuteClinic website or app.

You’ll need to fast before your visit to ensure accurate measurements.

During the screening you’ll learn your:

  • Total cholesterol
  • HDL cholesterol (the “good” cholesterol)
  • Blood pressure
  • Blood sugar
  • Body mass index (BMI)

The results offer a glimpse into your overall heart condition and indicate your risk for cardiovascular disease, according to the American Heart Association.

“These screenings are particularly timely after the recent release of updated blood-pressure recommendations from the American Heart Association aimed at improving blood-pressure management and lowering cardiovascular risk,” said Angela Patterson, chief nurse practitioner officer at MinuteClinic.

CVS Health is providing these complimentary screenings in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women initiative.

Although the Go Red campaign focuses on raising awareness of heart disease in women, a CVS spokesperson confirmed that the free screenings at MinuteClinics are open to people of any gender.

There are more than 1,100 MinuteClinics nationwide, and many locations operate seven days a week and offer evening hours.

If a MinuteClinic is convenient for you, it makes sense to drop in on a Wednesday this month for a free check that could catch small concerns before they grow.

For other community health opportunities, you might also be interested in free dental care days that can help you maintain overall wellbeing.
