Military, Teachers Can Set Sail for Free on Margaritaville at Sea

Margaritaville At Sea Heroes Sail Free Offer

Jimmy Buffett, famed for hits such as “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” has launched a new cruise brand that’s now presenting a complimentary cruise to the Bahamas for qualifying active and veteran military personnel, law enforcement officers, first responders and teachers.

The promotion, dubbed “Heroes Sail Free,” applies to a three-day, two-night itinerary bound for Grand Bahama Island. Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea cruise line operates twice-weekly sailings from the Port of Palm Beach, located just north of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, so travelers will need to make their way to that port to board.

This special is valid through Dec. 29, 2023, with complimentary ocean-view upgrades also offered through Oct. 4, 2022. Eligible individuals may claim one free cruise each year.

You can view the offer on the cruise line’s site. According to the listing, “You will see the Heroes Sail Free fare discount applied during checkout after entering in all guests’ information and clicking ‘View pricing by guests.’”

To access the free cruise, participants must be validated through the GovX ID verification platform.

Can Two People Sail Free Together?

Other passengers on the same booking as the veteran, active-service member, law enforcement officer, or teacher will be required to pay the standard fare. However, two qualifying individuals can travel together at no cost.

The promotion permits up to two eligible guests per stateroom to sail free. To reserve two complimentary berths in the same cabin you’ll need to contact the reservation center by phone.

Important to note: Since the announcement of the deal last week, the cruise line has experienced a surge in booking calls, and it asks for patience as it processes the influx of inquiries.

Port taxes and fees are not covered by the offer.

Let’s be honest: Active-duty troops, veterans, law enforcement, first responders and educators have earned some downtime.

The cruise line explains, “Active and veteran military, first responders, law enforcement officers and educators sail free.” That casts a fairly wide net.

You have ample time to redeem it. The promotion runs through Dec. 29, 2023, while complimentary ocean-view upgrades are available through Oct. 4, 2022.

Margaritaville at Sea — associated with Jimmy Buffett — introduced its inaugural ship, The Paradise, in May, in collaboration with Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurants and the former Bahamas Cruise Paradise Line. The operation appears to be professionally run.

It’s either “Come Monday” or “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.” Results may differ for each traveler.
