When a little one is on the way, your shopping list grows fast. You’ll need a crib, stroller, car seat, lots of diapers… and the prices for all those baby essentials add up quickly. Babies aren’t cheap!
That’s why it’s great to find chances to get baby items at no cost.
A baby shower gives friends and family a chance to help your newborn get off to a strong start. A registry makes that process simple for everyone involved.
But there’s one thing that makes the whole experience even better.
Get Complimentary Baby Items When You Register at Target
Target recognizes how much new parents have on their plates and rewards you for setting up a registry with them.
After you create your gift registry, Target will hand you a welcome bag filled with over $60 worth of coupons and selected samples.
I’m not expecting, but I decided to try the registry myself. We don’t recommend things we haven’t experienced, so I wanted to confirm firsthand what comes in the free package — and I was pleasantly surprised!
My welcome bundle contained more than $50 in coupons for brands such as Pampers, Honest, Liz Lange and even Starbucks.
And these freebies were included:
- Aquaphor diaper rash cream
- Olly prenatal multivitamin
- MAM pacifier
- Lansinoh breastfeeding storage bags
- The Honest Company diapers and wipes
- Pampers wipes
- Philips Avent natural bottle
How to Claim Your Free Baby Package
- Click here to set up your registry.
- Watch your email for the “Welcome to the Target Baby Registry” message. It includes an invitation to collect your Welcome Gift, which contains coupons and sample products.
- Go to Guest Services at any Target location (you don’t have to select a pickup store ahead of time) to retrieve your gift. It was super simple for me — no line, and the bag was waiting.
- Manage your registry online or download the Target Registry app. With the app you can add items manually, or browse the store and scan items to add them to your list.
Besides the appealing freebie, here are a few additional reasons we like the Target baby registry:
Convenience
Most people live near a Target, so friends and family can usually pop into a store to grab something from your list, even at the last minute.
If a physical store isn’t close by, guests can easily shop online via your registry.
Target will ship gifts to you without revealing your address to the purchaser. And returns are easy — you can bring items back to any Target store.
Setting up the registry is quick as well. I created a Target account at the same time, and the whole setup took under five minutes. Of course, you could spend hours curating the ideal list if you wanted to!
If you’re pressed for time or unsure where to begin, Target suggests essential registry items and offers ready-made lists you can add with a click.
You can also handle your registry while you’re out and about using the Target Registry app. Add items manually, or scan products in the store to include them on your registry.
Returns
You have up to one year after your shower to return or exchange registry items. So if you save items for later only to find they don’t work for your baby, you can return them without hassle.
Also, if you hold a Target REDCard, you’ll save money when you need to replace any items.
One reader and mom of two, Rachel Mitchell, notes, “While Target may not have as many choices as some specialty baby stores, I liked that if I needed to return something and purchase a replacement I would get 5% off with my Target REDCard.”
Extra Ways to Save
First, items purchased from your registry ship free on orders of $25 or more.
Second, Target provides a registry completion discount. Within eight weeks of the due date listed in your registry, you’ll get a 15% off coupon by mail that’s valid for one full day of in-store shopping, plus four extra coupons you can give to family and friends.
You’ll also receive a 15% discount code for a single online purchase. Note that these discounts apply only to things already on your registry.
There are plenty of other ways to save at Target. Look for baby deals in Cartwheel, Target’s savings app.
Keep an eye on emails about REDCard perks or Target gift card promotions. You (and loved ones) can cut costs further by buying discounted Target gift cards from resale sites like Raise or CardCash.
