You’re making the most of your weekend — darting around town, hitting all your favorite stops and checking those errands off your list.
You’ve got this!
But one thing: you could be throwing money away.
There’s a single retailer — likely one you pass on your Saturday circuit — that could help you keep hundreds in your wallet if you grab your go-to brand items from their shelves instead.
And they’ll even toss in an extra savings perk just for shopping on Saturdays.
Add Dollar General to Your Saturday Run
It may surprise you, but Dollar General carries a wide selection of popular brand household goods, pantry essentials and personal care items.
All you need to do is download the Dollar General app and create a DG Digital Coupons account. That opens up access to hundreds of dollars’ worth of digital coupons you can tap to add to your profile. (I uncovered $178 in offers at my neighborhood store, and a colleague in D.C. discovered nearly double that!)
After you’re in the app, you can grab an additional $5 off a $25 purchase coupon that’s valid on Saturdays and refreshes each week. Buy anything you like — as long as your Saturday purchase hits $25 and you give your phone number at checkout, you’ll get $5 off. Easy!
You can stack this with other coupons available in the app, too. Need Huggies diapers? Tide detergent? CoverGirl cosmetics? When we looked, each had coupon offers.
To confirm whether it’s worth changing your Saturday itinerary, we ran a quick price check. At the time we looked, a 5-pack of Non-Drowsy Claritin was $7.99 at CVS. At Dollar General we found the identical box for $5.50. Bam. That’s $2.49 saved.
Once you sign up and “clip” your coupons in the app, just provide your phone number at checkout and the discounts will be applied automatically to your purchase.
You could realistically save hundreds of dollars a month — simply by altering your Saturday shopping plan!
