Bed Bath & Beyond.
Their aisles are packed with items I didn’t realize I wanted: cookware with unclear uses, candles in every fragrance imaginable — even hair tools promising tresses that look like a sunlit cascade. Supposedly.
Long story short… I spend too much every time I walk in.
Here are a few strategies I plan to use to stretch my dollars the next time Bed Bath & Beyond tempts mebeyondmy means.
1. Don’t Enter the Store Without Coupons Ready
The good news for your next Bed Bath & Beyond spree? You’ll probably find a coupon for whatever you’re after.
Many of these appear in Bed Bath & Beyond’s app or its email newsletter. (And yes — sign up for the newsletter and you’ll usually get a coupon!) You can also opt in to receive SMS coupons via text.
Bed Bath & Beyond accepts manufacturer coupons, too. So if you spot a coupon for a Keurig, for instance, you can use it.
Oh, and always check for the yellow tags. Those mark clearance deals.
2. Use Price Matching
Bed Bath & Beyond will match prices from direct competitors, provided the brand and model are identical.
The simplest way is to use a price-comparison app like ShopSavvy. When you get to checkout, show the associate the competitor’s ad or website. You can even request a price match after completing a purchase, but you’ll need your receipt.
Note that you can match Amazon’s price — only if Amazon itself is the seller, not a third-party seller.
You may combine a manufacturer coupon with a price match. However, a Bed Bath & Beyond coupon can only be combined with a price match if the competitor would accept that coupon as well.
This can be a bit tricky, so take a moment to review the store’s policy. And remember: it never hurts to ask.
3. Always Stack Cash Back
This tip is great because you can layer the strategies listed above with cash-back offers.
Here are some cash-back avenues:
- Use Ibotta to earn cash back both in-store and online. Start by downloading the app, then browse in-store offers, such as $5 back on Fit Tea 14-Day Detox or $1 back on Lubriderm lotion. If you shop online, you can earn 2% cash back on the whole purchase. Once you’ve earned $20 in the app, redeem your cash back.
Plus, when you claim your first offer, you’ll scorea $5 bonus.
- Another route is Rakuten (formerly Ebates).
Check the Rakuten site for special coupons and promo codes. Right now, you might get a $5 gift card with the purchase of a Brita four-pack filter or up to $50 off a Vitamix.
You can also simply earn 2% cash back on your entire purchase when you shop throughthe Rakuten portal. Or, link your debit or credit card and Rakuten will automatically grant cash back for in-store purchases.
4. Use a Rewards Credit Card
Responsibly, of course.
If you manage your finances well (and your impulses), pay with a rewards credit card.
Bed Bath & Beyond offers its own card that gives 5% back in rewards for purchases at the retailer, 2% for gas and groceries and 1% for everything else.
Consider other cards, too, like the Chase Freedom Unlimited. The perk? You’ll earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases. Plus, if you spend $500 within the first three months of opening the account (think groceries), you’ll receive a $150 bonus.
There’s no annual fee, and rewards don’t expire. We looked at Credible’s annual rewards calculator, which estimates about $417 in yearly rewards based on the spending pattern used.* (You can enter your own spending to see what you’d earn.)

*Annual rewards will vary based on your inputs. Monthly category names and definitions may differ among issuers, and categories might not line up exactly.

5. Join Beyond+ Beta
Do the math to see if the annual membership pays off for you. Beyond+ Beta is a new pilot program that aims to give frequent shoppers (that’s you) extra savings.
For $29 per year, members receive 20% off their entire purchase every single time, both in-store and online. (Be sure to review the store’s exclusions list.) You’ll also get free shipping. (Although free shipping may already apply when you spend over $29.)

6. Keep Those Receipts
One final simple tip: don’t toss your receipts.
There are plenty of reasons to hold on to them. If you bought a full-price item and it goes on sale a week later (as always happens), bring your receipt back for an adjustment.
Or, if you shopped online, use a service likeCapital One Shopping Price Protection. Price Protection links to your email and monitors receipts; if a price drops, it helps secure a refund.
For instance, if that Keurig you bought last week just lost $10 in price, Price Protection may help you recover that difference.
