The team at Western Union has rolled out a great promotion this month to highlight their WU Pay option. They’re giving a free $20 bonus to new customers who buy a gift card through their site by June 30, 2012.
How it works… 1. Go to the Western Union gift card page and pick a gift card with a value of $100 or more. A wide variety of retailers are part of the deal, including Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s & Old Navy.
2. To qualify for the $20 rebate, you must pay for the gift card using Western Union’s WU Pay method. With WU Pay, you’ll sign into your online bank and pay the WU Pay email invoice using your bank’s bill-pay feature (you’ll receive an email receipt shortly after placing the gift card order). It’s similar to paying a bill online, so there’s no requirement to use a debit or credit card.
There are no fees tied to this and, since it’s Western Union, it’s a trustworthy offer…
3. Wait up to 15 days. Western Union will email you within 15 days with instructions on how to claim your $20 rebate. You can either redeem the cash immediately for a $20 gift card or let it accumulate in your WU Pay balance until you have enough to request a check (The minimum is $50).
The $20 freebie is valid one time only, but you’ll receive a cashback rate on every future gift card purchase (capped at $200 per year).
Note: I’m an affiliate of Western Union and receive a small referral fee for mentioning this promotion, but I would have highlighted it even without that relationship.
Good luck, Savinly readers!
