Planning your Thanksgiving feast this month and trying to stick to a budget? You may want to make a stop at Aldi. The grocer is offering its classic Thanksgiving fare at prices that are lower than those in 2019.
“Every day at ALDI, we focus on finding ways to provide the lowest possible prices for our shoppers — and this Thanksgiving is no exception,” said Jason Hart, Aldi’s chief executive, in a statement. “With roughly 25% of U.S. households now shopping at ALDI, we understand grocery costs remain a concern. We worked to ensure this Thanksgiving delivers the best combination of value and quality so families can enjoy a traditional meal without cutting back.”
Aldi’s announcement comes as inflation shows signs of easing overall. Still, many grocery items remain about 50% more expensive than they were in 2019.
The retailer’s Thanksgiving savings run through Nov. 27, so you can take advantage of the deals for an earlier Friendsgiving as well as the main holiday on Nov. 28.

How to Score the Thanksgiving Savings at Aldi
ALDI’s press release didn’t enumerate every product included in the Thanksgiving promotion. Even so, with the markdowns, a meal for 10 is estimated to cost about $47. That package includes a Butterball turkey, gravy, rolls, mac and cheese, stuffing and the essentials for cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie.
Walmart Joins the Fray — Let the Thanksgiving Price Battle Begin
Not to be left behind, Walmart — the nation’s largest food retailer — also revealed its own Thanksgiving price reductions.
Walmart’s offer differs slightly from Aldi’s: while Aldi is bringing prices back to pre-2019 levels, Walmart is pitching a Thanksgiving meal for under $7 per person.
That translates to significant savings on staple holiday proteins like ham and turkey. For instance, Walmart’s turkeys are priced as low as $0.88 per pound.
Walmart’s sale window extends well beyond Aldi’s. Its promotion runs through Dec. 24, making Walmart a destination for both Thanksgiving and Christmas grocery shopping. If you want to compare promotions and timing, you can also check out resources about walmart rollback days.
