Uber has completely changed how I get around.
No longer do I have to wrestle with suits for taxis in New York City, or try to figure out where on earth I am in St. Louis so I can arrange a 3 a.m. pickup. (Both are true.)
Now I simply open the Uber app, request a ride, and shortly thereafter I’m on my way.
If you’re as enthusiastic about Uber as I am, you’ll be pleased to hear about a recent promotion that allows current users to receive a FREE Uber trip worth up to $20.
How Current Uber Riders Can Score a Free Trip
Often these promotions are limited to new customers. That’s frequently how Uber rolls—offering complimentary rides to people trying the service for the first time.
But because of Uber’s new collaboration with Facebook, even existing riders can claim a free ride, saving as much as $20.
To take advantage of this offer, hail your Uber from inside Facebook Messenger.
The feature isn’t live for everyone immediately; it will be introduced gradually over the coming weeks. If you don’t see the “Transportation” choice in Messenger yet, give it a few days and check again.
Here’s how to get this offer:
1. Install or open the Facebook Messenger app. Make sure it’s updated to the latest version. (If it isn’t, you’ll likely be prompted to update.)
2. Start a new conversation. Tap the “More” option in the lower-right corner, shown as three small dots. Choose “Transportation” and follow the prompts to connect your Uber account.
3. The next time you need a ride, request your Uber via Messenger. Your credit of up to $20 will be applied automatically.
If you don’t have Uber yet, consider signing up for the app and using that free introductory ride first (if you use a friend’s referral code, you both receive a free ride!) — then link your account to Messenger to claim your second complimentary trip.
