Subway Is Giving Away Free 6-Inch Sub Sandwiches on July 11

Free Subway Sandwiches: July 11 Giveaway

Subway has invested heavily in new deli meat slicers for its restaurants, and the chain is clearly enthusiastic about its revamped deli-style sandwiches — so much so that it’s inviting you to try one at no cost.

The brand plans to give away as many as 1 million 6-inch subs on July 11. Here’s the simple way to get one:

Visit a participating Subway between 10 a.m. and noon on Tuesday. If you’re among the first 50 customers to request one at that location, you’ll receive a complimentary sub.

You must select one of Subway’s four freshly introduced sandwiches — Titan Turkey, Garlic Roast Beef, Grand Slam Ham or the sandwich dubbed “The Beast” (which features pepperoni, salami, turkey, ham and roast beef, in case you were curious).

Redemption requires you to go inside the restaurant and order in person — phone or app orders won’t qualify. Limit one free sandwich per person. No alterations allowed. It might be wise to call ahead to confirm your local Subway is participating — or simply stop by and ask.

Why Is Subway Giving Away Free Sandwiches?

So what’s the purpose of this giveaway? The promotion is intended to spotlight Subway’s new deli-style offerings. The chain is betting big on these new sandwiches.

Subway has faced challenges in recent years and is making changes to try to reverse its fortunes.

“Subway has closed thousands of U.S. locations in recent years due to over-expansion, outdated operations and decor, stale menus and $5 footlong deals that eroded franchisees’ profits,” Reuters recently noted. The company has also struggled to regain sales momentum after the COVID-19 era.

As part of a menu refresh, Subway has poured $80 million into deli meat slicers and fitted them in every U.S. location. The chain is modernizing the Subway experience — possibly gearing up for a future sale of the business.

“Over the past two years, we overhauled our expansive pantry of ingredients and debuted a whole new way to Subway with chef-crafted signature sandwiches,” Trevor Haynes, Subway’s president of North American operations, said in a press statement.

So what exactly are these four new offerings? Subway labels them Deli Heroes. Each showcases ample amounts of freshly sliced deli meats, is served on “Artisan Italian bread,” and comes with Subway’s familiar selection of toppings and sauces.

For two hours on Tuesday morning — or while supplies last — they’ll be available for free.
