Quite a bit of cash back, as it happens. The company just marked a major milestone: It’s handed out more than $100 million in rewards.
It took three years and a mountain of receipts — roughly 50 million! — to reach that point. That gives Ibotta a huge trove of product pricing data. Its research team has pulled some pretty fascinating insights from all that information.
Who would’ve thought, for example, that Tuesday actually comes out on top?
Ibotta Shows When and Where to Shop to Cut Grocery Costs
Ibotta’s analysts used price details from user-uploaded receipts to determine when and where to buy certain goods to land the best bargains.
For instance, the study suggests you’re most likely to get the lowest price on a bottle of wine on Tuesday — and the top stores for it are Sam’s Club, Walmart and Walgreens.
Move over, Friday. There’s a fresh “TGI” favorite in town.
Trying to stay protected from this relentless summer sun? The least expensive day to pick up sunscreen is Monday, and your go-to retailers should be Target, Walmart and Dollar General.
Produce tends to be cheapest on Wednesday, and ice cream deals make Monday a bit more bearable…
…but the weekend, unsurprisingly, is the priciest time to shop.
